a new beginning

It's been QUITE some time since I've had any time to share with you all, my new stuff, and I sincerely apologize.

Since I last blogged, I had a career change, then another career change, and then... I moved. I moved to Kingston Springs, Tennessee.

I must admit, it was a real challenge preparing for the move. I had accomplished my dream job at my previous career, which was WinCraft, Inc., located in Winona, Minnesota. But still, something wasn't right. I felt like I wasn't quite finished... or I wasn't supposed to end up there.

Or maybe I was, but not yet. So, I packed up all my stuff and headed out to Tennessee to make a new living, a new name for myself. I wanted to be a part of the music scene, to see where it would take me.

I've only been in this state for a little over a week, and so far, it's been pretty exciting.

I will do my best to maintain a more up-to-date relationship with this blog. It's the best way a designer can communicate with the masses, and future clients.

Over the next few weeks, I will be updating my logos/color schemes/portfolio for myself. It's about time I swap out my previous works and show new projects I've completed!

I look forward to sharing with you all, my most recent works.

Thanks for all your patience, and I will have more exciting news to cme in the near future!

changes, they are a-comin'

Wow!! Good morning, world! First off, let me apologize... I've been really busy with life, freelance, my current job—oh... and yes.

I've been busy with something I've been trying to do for awhile. I've been working on making some changes in my life—especially in the area of my career. :)

Yes, folks! You've heard it first! I'm happily excited to announce that I'm going to become a Publication Artist for a local company in Minnesota.

I'm absolutely elated—change is good for everyone!

This is going to be one of the more exciting times in my life, and I can't wait to be a part of this new business/design team. I can't give you all the down-low, though. Not right now, at least. Within the next month, though, keep your eyes peeled!

I'm so happy to finally be involved in art/design the way that I always intended to be involved with it. My talents and skill will surely go farther than I had ever imagined possible.

Have a great Friday, all!

Oh, and if you didn't know, I've got some new freelance work available for ya'll to see.
Check it out!

design is not an option

Good evening, everyone.

Yes, for the first time, ever, I'm writing an evening post on my blog. I know before, these blog posts were something you'd see each day. Now, I just like to post once a week, to check in for y'all.

I'm pretty busy with a lot of freelance projects. In fact, as we speak, I'm printing a really big project right now. It's my second in-house project—I've been such a basket case over it, too. I've had suggestions from my dad, sisters, and the actual client(s) themselves over and over and over again.

Then I realized, "I'm the designer, here. Snap out of it."

I needed to take control of this project again. I needed to have the confidence in myself, to realize that this project was amazing in practically every aspect, and that I should BELIEVE in that! No one knew or knows this little gem as much as I do.

I can say this, too: this project has been a huge learning experience for future projects. I've learned about outsourcing, I've learned about having things in "stock," and also, how much ink a person should have on hand. That's only a FEW things I've learned.

You think I'm going to give you all the details? Sorry,. That's when you can definitely ask me a question, though.
And you can ask me here: serumsa@gmail.com

I'm really grateful, though. I'm almost into double-digits with clients!

I'm so excited and blessed. I really am. Just knowing that peple are coming to me to help them get their wedding invitations done, or setting up a website, or helping them with a logo—it makes me so humbled.

I will keep my dream alive to one day have my very own business. It would be so cool if my sister, Dana, would one day go halfsies with me and we'd start up our own business together. She's a photographer. Can you imagine all the things we could do? I think about it all the time!

My other sister, Molly, she could definitely be a sidekick in this journey, too. It would be like we were the three sisters who did amazing things for people so they didn't have to.

Anyways, as I wait for the next 60 sheets of paper to print, back-to-back, ever so slowly, I'll let you all go for the night.

I'm going to have some really cool pictures up by the end of the weekend with this really sweet project I'm working on.

A lot of time, labor and love went into this beauty. I hope and pray my client(s) enjoy it as much as I have been.

Goodnight, mates!

Easter is coming!

Good day, all! I know, it's been an awful long time since I last posted for your enjoyment. And I'm deeply sorrowful about that. But, once again, I've been really busy with, work, my freelance projects, and life.

I do want to give you the link to business cards I recently designed for a client, and here it is:

http://on.fb.me/hxa8Nm

The client was pretty happy with them, and I was too!

Soon, I'll be sharing some photographs of another project I worked on for a client. Wanna know what they are? ...Wedding invitations! I can't wait for you to see them.

On another note...it's almost Easter. I'm not going to give you a sermon—don't worry. But, I do encourage you all to take some time, or a break, and spend that day/evening with your loved ones/family/friends.

Spring is here, and what's cooler than that? My Samations business, of course! ;] If you haven't already checked it out, why don't ya, now?

or....you can check out my portfolio!

Sorry, but I've got to share it with you—with the world! I want everyone to know about me and what I can help you with.

On an interesting note, I received a delightful package of York Peppermint Patties this morning when I got to work. I think I know who gave me the sweet surprise. But, that's a personal "note," and I'm not going any farther than that. However, if that individual reads this post...I thank you. It was very nice of you. They're my favorite.

Here's a couple of pictures:

It's funny, because I already bought two last night for work this  morning. Now I've got 5 of them—plus, the inside is M&M's that are York Peppermint Patties, too!

:] Have a wonderful and blessed Easter, world.

a change of pace

Good morning, world!

So, I'm not going to lie. It's been a while since I've been able to post something for y'all to see. But—during that down time, A LOT has happened.

But first, I need to take a time-out, and wish my cousin, Ashley, A HAPPY BIRTHDAY! She's 25 years old today! In this picture, she's the gal in the white.

My Samations business has been flourishing. Business cards came in for a client, and I'm waiting to hear what the response will be to them. They're called "mini cards" —these cards are half the size of a regular business card. Want a sneak-peak of what they look like? Alright, alright. You got it out of me.

On another note, wedding invitations I was working vigorously on for another client, are completely finished. The designs have been proofed, and have been sent to a local printing business in order to come to life. I can't wait to see how they turn out! You want a sneak-peak, don't ya? Well, you'll have to wait...gotta leave you wantin' more, ya know.

I've also just designed a wedding greeting card—last night. I'll be printing it tomorrow evening, so then I will post what I can Saturday morning. I like to set up photo shoots with my work. I'm excited for y'all to take a look! It turned out really spectacular. Simple elegant, and to the point.

I'm in the process of setting up a website for a current client. It's coming along slowly, but it will be awesome in the end.

Business has been steady, and my dreams of one day having my own space/building...suddenly seem like they're not that ridiculously out of reach. It's still a ways a way, but...I'm not going to lose sight of that goal.

Have a great day, mates! It's gorgeous out there—don't waste it!

when reality sets in

Good afternoon, world! I hope you've all been having a wonderful month of March. I can't believe that there's only 4 days left of my favorite month.

I'm sure that many of you have been seeing a few changes with my blog. I've got good reason!

Well, Spring is here. I got sort of sick n' tired of the old branding of Samations, and so....I started doodling one night. I was up until 5:30 in the morning, working on a re-design for my freelance business.

What you see on this site, is sort of a preview. I've been experimenting with colors, and free-hand works. Or, typeography/caligraphy.

So! With that being said, what you're seeing may not be the final outcome of what I'm working on, but, it's along the lines of the final outcome.

Have a great Sunday, mates!

it's official

Hello, everyone! Hopefully you're having a superb Friday. Yesterday was St. Patrick's Day—I can't believe I didn't post anything for you guys to see. I feel bad. Oh wait, I know why I didn't...

I've been busy! I've been working on projects for clients. I've been practicing songs for a wedding I'm singing in this weekend. I've also been preparing for...

My 24th Birthday!

Yep. It's true. My birthday is:

Saturday, March 19, 2011.
(Yes, the same day as the wedding I'm singing in. But that's alright by me! More food, more beer—more celebration!)

I'm hoping I get somethin' special! My co-worker surprised me this morning. She gave me a candle with a wick that crackles (VERY EXCITED), a canister of cashews (I LOVE CASHEWS), a funny card, and these scrumptious delights:

So I guess I did get something(s) that was/were special. Thank you very much, Cindy!

SAMATIONS UPDATE:

I have an amazing update to share with the world. I was just informed of this:

My very first check for my Samations business came in the mail this morning!

TALK ABOUT AN EXCITING DAY!

Additionally, I was also able to get the right username for my facebook page that I've been waiting for.

"Like" Samations on Facebook!
www.facebook.com/samations       <------Doesn't that look amazing? I'm proud, I really am.

Other than the fact that I need to lose some weight and knowing that leaves me feeling depressed most days....I'm having a pretty damn good day.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND, MATES! I'll share allll my stories when I return to the computer world!

what can i say?

Good morning, everyone!

It's been almost a week sine I've posted last. A few things have happened, too. Unfortunately, I haven't been drafted to www.dribbble.com, yet. But I was invited to the site http://lovedsgn.com/ and I'm pretty pumped about it!

I've been posting some of my in-progress work on the site to get feedback from other designers to see how I can improve on my projects.

I'd send you the link to my page, so you could get a little sneak-peak of what I've been working on for clients.... but I don't want to give anything away until the projects are completely finished. Even though it's killing me to not share the news with you!

Sorry! That's just the way it's going to be.

But, I can however, share something with you. Lovedsgn.com must have thought my work was interesting enough to tweet about it on their actual twitter account.

Don't believe me? Here's a snapshot of my screen when it happened yesterday:

196268_182561508454926_179774292066981_457421_3188063_n
It's probably not that amazing, but to ME, it sure was a surprise! Don't mind the somewhat crappy red circle; I was that thrilled over this accomplishment.

Well, I hope everyone has a wondrous weekend. I know I will, I'm attending a bachelorette party. :]
